Intro
Sipster Design System (SDS) is 2600Hz's internal design system for developing digital products and experiences for the KAZOO ecosystem.
About
This system is comprised of guidelines, core styles, UI components and patterns, a comprehensive layout system, developer toolsets, design kits, and much more.
The goals of this project include:
Improve UI consistency and quality
Streamline design and development processes/workflows to improve efficiency
Establish a shared vocabulary between designers, developers, and project stakeholders
Provide a stable foundation and clear roadmap for developing consistent, flexible, and maintainable interfaces
Project Principles
In order to achieve these goals, Sipster Design System (SDS) is guided by four basic principles:
Be Simple & Intuitive
Every designer should be able to easily navigate and find components/patterns they need, and be provided guidance on how to properly implement in projects.
Every developer should be able to access code and quickly understand how to work with it. There should be a minimal learning curve and maximum enablement.
Be Consistent
An integral part of this design system is that everything remain consistent. It should be obvious when a designer or developer deviates from the system.
Be Modular & Flexible
The systemβs modularity ensures maximum flexibility. Configurations, tools, packages and libraries are designed to work seamlessly with each other, in whichever combination benefits the needs of the user.
Be System-First
All contributors (designers, developers, product managers etc.) should think system-first, such that a change to any given component, style, or layout is a change to the entire system and may have deeper impacts that will need careful consideration and testing.
